Since time immemorial, humans have been fascinated by the flight of birds through the air, the movement of fish in water, and how animals survive in extremely hot or cold environments. Over millions of years, nature has developed solutions and optimizations perfectly suited to its surroundings. This fascination—and the potential for technical applications—inspired the founding idea behind FlowMotion.
From academic insight to industrial impact
In 1996, Christian Potma and Dr. Roy Mayer founded the engineering firm FlowMotion as a bridge between technical universities and industry. Their goal was to offer top-level academic knowledge and tools—such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) from aerospace and mechanical engineering—while also addressing the practical constraints of industry in terms of solution focus, applicability, timelines, and cost.

After nearly 30 years, more than 300 clients, and over 1,250 projects, we can confidently say that our services enable clients to develop and optimize their products or processes faster, more cost-effectively, and with lower risk than they could without us.
